Default Help with oil filter

There is no oil filter on the recons. They use in internal oil screen that cleans the oil and it isn't worth the pain to clean. Just change the oil more often and you will have no problem.

There is no 'screen' inside the Recon/250EX, they have a centrifugal type filter.

MOTO93--There is an engine oil screen in them and they also use an engine oil centrifugal filter.
The screen is near the bottom of the crankcase and to acces it you have to split the crankcase to get to it. I am looking at this from a CLYMER repair manual.

Default Help with oil filter

I use honda GN4 oil in 10w 40 in my recon. In the kawi though my dad runs castrol 4-stroke 10w 40 oil. Just get an oil that is good for wet clutches, not synthetic car motor oil becuase they try to reduce friction and the clutches need friction to work properly.

You're right 01redrecon, there is an oil strainer screen inside the crankcase. I don't agree with you on oil though. I've been using Mobil 1 in our Recon and 250EX for years with no problems.
