Default Need help with a 400ex

A buddy brought his bike to my house last night to change the oil and filter...When I went to loosen the bolt in the oil filter cover the threaded end broke off...Has this happen to anyone else? If so how did you fix it?Thanks, shaun

Sounds like it was a little tight...you'll have to pull that side cover off to retrieve the other end of the bolt...chances are it will have enough sticking out to just turn it out with some pliers...otherwise tap witha small punch till it spins out. If that hasn't been any help you will have to drill(I realy doubt you'll need to drill).

If you have a reversible drill, buy a left handed bit a little smaller than the stud, should be about 3/16 of an inch. Put your drill in reverse and it'll probably spin right out. If not, you'll have a nice pilot hole for the next step...
