It probably won't kick the snot out of the YFZ450. But it's going to kick the snot out of whoever rides it.
I hear the bike vibrates like mad.

answers my question about counterbalancing. how much power do you lose to counterbalancing systems like the 250R's.

Counter balencing is there for rider comfort, that's all. It takes power to turn the counterbalencer so that is why MX bikes don't use one. Plus a 250 MX bike doesn't vibrate all that much so I think it is a mute point.

I shouldn't have said kick the snot out of but because the YZ450F dirt bike competes against the CR 250 and they are equal; doesn't it stand to reason that the same motors in quads would be equal? The '04 250R should be lighter.

Yep, just checked the specs 310 lbs so its 40 lbs lighter. That is a bunch!
