Has anyone had their 400 clocked with a radar gun? I'm curious of what the top speed might be. Mines bone stock.

 

I've been clocked at 74mph. I got alot of aftermarket parts though. And i'm in the process of putting and speedometer on.

 

The top speed of a stock 400ex is 64 mph. It is in the January issue of atv action, where they did a shootout between the ex , 250r, banshee and ds 650. They radared all quads on asphalt.

 

What were the speeds for the 250R and the 650?

 

I think the 250r was either 68 or 69 mph and the ds 650 was around 71 or 72 mph.

The only reason they only went 64 is becuase of the throttle cable not tight enough. Mine Stock goes 68.

ok the top speed of a 400ex is 71 mph the reason i know this is because a friend of mine got chased by a cop and he clocked her at 71 thats the top speed

 

Recon dude, 71 on a stock 400ex, no way in hell. Anyway the top speeds went like this:

400ex 64
250r 70
banshee 72
ds 650 74

They also clocked the machunes in an acceleration test, agin in the same order as the top speed with the ds first and the 400 ex last.

We have never had any problem with stock gearing. First gear was low enough
and 5th gear will top out at 70+
