i heard honda is gonna be makin a 450 sport qaud an i also heard there will be 2 new one's so im guessin maybe a new 250r??? i guess we'll have to find out but if honda makes both yamaha better close there factories

 

I don't think we are going to see any new 2-strokes. I am hoping for a XR650 based desert bike.

 

The honda 250r is from "service honda". I think honda should make a 450 race ready quad and also use a xr650r (liquid cooled) engine with electric start and reverse to make a trail atv to compete with the raptor.

also the 450 is "suposed" to be top secret for honda. it should compare to the the new yamaha450 like two identicle twins

 

There is no new 250r. i wish there was but not yet. those "new 250r's" on servicehonda.com and the other places are just custom bikes. they have nothing to do with the Honda Company.

 

Just wondering why Honda would keep the 450 a big secret? Simple Marketing 101 would have them revealing this now so people don't buy the YFZ450 before this new Honda comes out. Microsoft and many other companies have done this "early announcement" whenever a competitor gets a jump on them. I don't see the point in Honda keeping a new kickbutt quad a secret at this point when all the competitors have new quads out - KFX400, z400, Polaris Predator, and YFZ450. I have 3 400exs and am very happy with Honda but I think anyone who thinks Honda has a new quad up their sleeves is living in a dream. They would be showing early pictures and even allowing the magazines to see/ride a prototype.

Rapror2-I have always wondered about the same thing!! Either the bike(s), is so incredible that they are going to blow everybody else away, or it isn't and that is just the way they do things??????????

 

Im thinking its like a poker game and Hondas going to lay down there winning hand (ie new 450 quad) and pull all the chips in .
iv also heard honda is going to have it at the dealer show in Sept.

i definitely dont think they will release any more two strokes, and I highly doubt they will release 2 quads. I know of a report that said Honda wasnt going to release anything while they had so many 400EXs in wharehouses. Judging from this, i think they are looking to phase the 400 out and make as few sport bikes as possible. They are to release something in September; i have good sources (doesnt everybody) that confirms a new 450. Of course, nothing is concrete untill september and until they announce it, we all have to wait and see. If they do release 2 bikes, I will be utterly amazed but i dont think it will happen.

Yes marketing 101 would have them to say something about a new quad now, but I guess they dont care about marketing 101; remember, these are the same people that sat on the 400EX news while they were testing it for years (4) until they announced it back in late 1998 (for the 99 model year). I dont think honda feels obligated to tell anyone anything about their plans for this. If they make it, they make it; if they dont- then they dont; there are alot of good quads out there right now. It is a new era.... But I hope they do step up.
