250x help
#1
I am looking at buying a 87' 250x. It runs great and the guy that is selling it has done a great job making it look awesome. But my dad is worried that it is too old. The seller has already taken the 250x to the honda dealer and gotten 3rd gear reaplaced for $600. And when it was there he had the dealer also check on all the other gears and they said the rest looked good. But my dad doesn't want to dish out another $600 to fix another gear. He was also wondering why i wanted this atv when i could get a 2000 blaster for the same price. He just doesn't get why i want this old atv when i could have one that is 13 years newer. I need some help figuring out what to tell my dad when we have a discussion about this tonight or tommorrow night. please tell me what you think ASAP. thank you for reading and hopefully responding.

you won't have any problems concerning how old it is, my 250x is the same age, it is one of the most reliable atvs, because it is a honda, and it is faster than a 300ex and has great power for a 250cc quad. get it, its the best deal you will find for the price.

I put 410cc of high compression alcohol burning stroker engine to my stock tranny and never shelled it. The 250x is the best bike I have ever owned. However, at 325lbs I am a little big for it. I like the size of my banshee and it is a lot more comfortable to ride. I have several friends that ride the 250x's and the 300ex's. They are VERY dependable. I regretfully sold my 250x, but I will be purchasing one in the future for when my kids are of age.
