For longer a arms, it would be a lot cheaper to use 400ex a arms and shocks, the arms bolt right in, you will need to fab the top shock mounts, 400 shocks are about 50 percent longer than 300ex shocks. The swing arm probably won't fit, you should be able to find after market.

The stock 400ex a arms are barely any heavier than the 300ex's, they add about 1.5 " on each side, the big thing is all the extra suspension travel over the stock 300ex, about 8.5 versus the 5 you get on the 300ex. If you look on ebay, you can get a set for 50 - 100 bucks, a custom set for a 300ex will run you about 400 bucks, and then you will need custom shocks to fit the extra travel, another few hundred. The only drawback is having to fab a new top shock mount, the short 300ex shocks mount so low because they are pretty short.
ThreeWracer, a bigger carb isn't always the best way to get hp, unless you are boring it out or heavily modifying the motor, a big carb will give you more top end, but bottom end power will suffer, unless you have a high compression piston and bigger bore, along with a cam. I've heard of some using a 400ex carb or a 350 x carb, easier to bolt up, and gives more flow for a bit more power.

No, it makes the quad handle even better, as long as you mount the shocks correctly to keep the front end geometry the same, so the full travel can be used without binding the shocks. Everyone I have talked to says the difference in ride and handling is night and day compared to the stock 300ex. I have all the parts, just waiting for some time to fab up a top shock mount and put everything together. My son can't wait to ride it after it is back together, along with a pipe and filter I have for it.
