Im buying this quad soon and it is a 300EX with a 296 big bore kit..it has a WB E-Series pro meg exhasut system..twinfilter air filer dg front bumpr, dg grab bar, dg nerf bars, and sone other stuff...What do you think the top speed on it would be he said 70...that sounds right..just likea 400EX in a smaller frame with reverse and it would be lighter.the only difference is the 400EX has better shocks and a bigger swingarm with no reverse....but does 70mph sound right..I think it does..What do you guys think

Its not a 296 big bore kit...its a 396 big bore kit..Its like a 400EX in a smaller frame...shorter swingarm and reverse..it can run 70 mph...owner told me that...I thought it could because a 400EX can un 70 and it is a lot heavier then the 300EX..so it should be able to run faster than a 400EX??

Size of the motor and weight of the bike don't drastically affect the top speed. If you are revving 10,000rpms, you are revving 10,000rpms. The 300ex tranny is pretty low geared and you can't easily change the gearing on the tranny. The only easily changeable thing is the final drive gearing. Stock is 13/38 on the 300ex. If he hasn't changed the gearing, the speed at 10,000rpms in 5th will remain the same whether it has a big bore or not. The big bore motor might be able to turn a few hundred rpm's high in 5th due to extra power, but it will only equate to 3-4 miles an hour. This is why I said he had to go with higher gearing if he can do 70+mph.

What makes this 300ex lighter than a 400ex? A 300ex's claimed dry weight is 377 and a 400ex's is 375.

I never knew that....I always thought that the 300EX was lighter...guess not..now that I think of it the 300EX does have a reverse and the 400EX doesnt I dont know if that reverse adds that much more weight..but that is the only differenece...Oh well...2 pounds isnt that big of a difference...or maybe Honda just has a wrong weight...maybe it is the other way around...Still 2 punds wont make a difference..
