Default Straight Answer On Oil For Rubicon

Would someone please give me a straight answer on which oil to use in my Rubicon. I have heard conventional, synthetic, and honda oil itself. I have pretty much made up my mind to use Royal Purple 10w-40. Yes or No?

Default Straight Answer On Oil For Rubicon

Our Rubicon is an early 01. Checked the oil pressure today at both 1,400,rpm and 5,000 rpm, perfect. I change the oil and filter every 500 miles, period. I have never added oil between oil changes. Our Rubicon carries 400 pounds everywhere. We have over 3300 miles on it. All I have used is Valvoline 10w40 All Climate oil. Next oil change I will use Valvoline ATV 4-sroke 10w40 oil, it hase the same SF/SG rating as recomended by Honda but also has friction addatives for the clutch, something Honda GL4 doesn't. Valvoline 10w40 $1 qt, Valvoline 10w40 ATV oil, $2 a qt.
