Which ones are the best for the 400ex? I've looked at the specs for LoneStar, RickyStator, Krypton, and Roll Design. Ricky Stator are the widest, extend the wheel base the most (2") and are the cheapest, but are they any good?

I think PROLINE is Graydon-Proline.

As far as other a-arm manufacturers....Roll Design has some nice looking a-arms for the 400EX. I haven't inspected them up close but pictures suggest that they have a lot of gussetting.

Isn't Lonestar making 400 stuff now too?? A friend of mine said that they had a huge write up in Dirt Wheels.

Burgard Cycle has an ad for stuff like that. My best friend ordered some +2 for his 300ex. I saw them and they were NICE. Nickel plated for $450 with ball joints and tie rods. Put on the spindles and good to go. He sent them back because they accidentally sent the wrong ones. He should be getting the new ones today.

Another question I had is do you have to replace the front shocks when you change A-arms?

You don't have to replace your front shocks, just stiffen them up. However, shocks make a HUGE difference.
