I am going to change the oil in my 400EX for the first time. Is there any brand of filter other than Honda that I can use? How hard is it to find the oil filters in stores?

I have been using the honda filters in my 2000 400ex. But STP makes one for it and I found it at our local AutoZone store. I am thinking on switching to the STP but not sure of the quality of it....what do you guys think?

I like using the Fram because it comes with a replacement O-ring.

Better use the original Honda filters so you won't have warranty problems later.

This has been addressed before. Using different filters and oil WILL NOT void your warranty in any way. The only way you are required to use a specific brand of replacement part is if the part is supplied free of charge.
I use WIX filters, they are less expensive than Honda filters, come with the O-ring, and are one of the highest quality filters made in the world.

It is a matter of choice though. More important than the brand of oil and filter, is to change the oil and filter often!

Every oil filter comes with a gasket unless it got left out at the factory. I like to stay away from the Fram Filters, and here's the reason why:

Good luck
