400ex frame, CRF 450 eng.

Anyone who has done this swap, please respond. Is this a hard swap to do? How much work is it to make this motor fit into a 400ex frame? Is it worth the trouble? I'm getting tired of waiting on Honda to do it. I've got the cash, and the ability, just wondering if it's worth it, and how much fabricating it would take. Thanks.

If a YZF426 engine can be mounted intoa 400EX frame, then I would assume that a CRF450 engine would fit into a 400EX frame. I saw a CRF450 without the engine on sale on EBAY before, the guy said he kept the engine for a 400EX project. So it might just work, if you take measurements on the crf450 engine you should be able to see it if will fit into the frame.

I've seen it a few times in mags. They say theres little mods requied to do it. I've rode a houser 450. Handles just like a R. Stock 450 motor with pipe and filter is awsome. Call them or laeger or one of the and they could tell every thing u need to know.

K&K also makes some crf450 quads. They have one in the August issue of atv avtion magazine and you can also look at them on their web page at http://www.kandkatv.com They used a lonestar chasis and a 250r lonestar swingarm and put on 250r plastics. You can buy this crf450 and also a yzf450 for a mere $21,000 each.
