Im looking into either purchasing the 2000 Rancher 4x4 or the Kodiak. In your opinion what are the advantages and disadvantages of these bikes. Thanks

Honda is a great company and there bikes are know for high durabillity and low maitinence. Its all up to you. The main thing is that you find a machine that fits you the best. Dont just pick the bike because it looks cool and your friends like it. Make sure it fits you good and meets all of your needs because its your "behind" thats going to be on the bike not your friends.
good luck

I have said this many, many times to friends and fellow posters. It took me 6 months to decide which ATV was best for my purposes. If you want to be ultimately happy with your purchase "DO YOUR HOMEWORK".
1- Make a checklist of all the things that you will do with your new ATV in order of importance.
2- Take a good look at the machines you are interested in and all their options.
3- Get the brochures from the dealers, talk to the salesmen, and talk to owners of these machines.
4- Try to get a good test ride on the machines you are choosing from.
5- Check out the usefulness of the options.
6- Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer.

Shop wise and buy smart and you will ultimately be happy with your purchase. There is nothing worse then spending that kind of money on a machine only to find out a month or so later that it is no good for your purpose or you don't like it.

PS I really like the Ranchers

Most of all have fun and play safe. Jeff

I agree with bigred. The Rancher & Kodiak were my final two choices. Test ride both & then make a decision.

If you have trouble with the Yamaha. Yamaha's customer service isn't any good when compared to Honda's. I sold my one year old Grizzly for that reason.

Honda's Service can, at times lead alot to be desired. Frequent Problems with my swingarm on my cr 500 has left me wondering,, Honda Quality doesnt seem to be what it used to, in the last issue of dirt bike, Honda was criticized because their bike riders had to put up with floppy kick starters, weak pegs and levers, and overall poor quality..Their quads seem to hold up a bit better..
Either way, either one of these bikes is good choice.

The Kodiak best advantage is it's 401cc vs the Ranchers 329cc I think 72cc is one heck of a advantage besides Liguid cooling ,disks brakes and selectable 2wd/4wd.
