Wow, thats sad! I have heard similar stories and I am very glad I only hurt my leg. I didn't wear a helmet till after that accident and wasn't wearing one during it, but I won't ride with out it now!

I went to 2 different hospitals and ended up with $15,000 in bills by the time I was done. They had to do skin graphs and all the fun stuff that goes with that. It was at least 5 weeks before I could walk without pain.

Glad to here you were not injured as bad as you could have possibly been even though it was pretty bad,it most deffinately could have been worse, and about the shock, i never even lost control luckilly, It was the 80 ft gap that caused it to bottom out and weaken it, and bend it just enough to not tell it was bent but it was a 5 ft double that finished the damage. i was REAL lucky it wasnt the 80 ft gap or another big jump that it did it on or i would have lost control and possibly been thrown off or worse. Before that time i went to the track, the shock was acting up with an EXTREMELY slow rebound(not coming back to correct position when i landed jump) and then it stopped acting up from then on. being as i forgot about the bad shock and my stubborness to jump it in that condition later, it couldnt take the stress of the weight from that hight. I should soon have pictures of me jumping the same jump with WORKS shocks and not having to worry about me breaking the shock.
