What Of The 400EX?
With the knowledge that the TRX450R is just around the corner, I wonder what the future holds for the 400EX. It's still a great quad, one I'd love to have, and it would be a shame to see it disappear because of the 450R.
I would hope that Honda would give it reverse, maybe a little more power, and a couple of other minor upgrades and sell it for a lower price. It would be the perfect sport/trail quad.
It's hard to imagine that both the 300EX and the 400EX will still be available after the 450R arrives, so I hope the treat the 400EX well. There's no reason at all that quad shouldn't be upgraded and still available to the Honda loyalists.
The 400EX is a great machine, and it definitely needs to say awhile longer. Please, Honda, don't kill it off.

250EX
300EX
400EX
450R
650EX (?)
compared to:
Blaster
Warrior
Banshee
YZF
Raptor
Um, okay, so they would be equal (in line-ups, not necessarily quality). My bad.

Avenger,
You were right the first time, It will be better only because the Banshee will be discontinued soon because of EPA regulations. For the record, I think the Banshee's demise stinks.
I would add the reverse to the 400ex and maybe replace some expensive parts like the aluminum swingarm and the tires to keep the price down. The quad has already paid for it's R&D and it's capital investment. So it is a profitable quad. That's probably the only reason why they've kept the 300ex around.

yeah its sucks they're getting rid of the banshee, and I'll be super pi$$ed if they discontinue the 400ex. Yeah they should make it an option on the ex to have reverse, and then not put it on the 450r. They could have the sport class by the *****, have the ex for some track and trail, and have the 450r for mx.

I would buy a 400EX with reverse. It's a great handling frame and would be an excellent trail quad. Personally I'd rather have a 400EX with reverse over a TRX 450R.
I doubt they will though. ATV manufacurtures crank out the same old crap year after year because the public keeps buying it. It took Yamaha 15 years to finally put disc brakes on the Blaster. It took them 16 years to upgrade the Banshee's airbox. Kawasaki has never done anything to the Mojave besides adding the required safety equipment and stickers and its in its 16th year of production. Honda kept the Fourtrax 300 utilitly quad the same for 10 years or so. The 300EX should have been updated but remains unchanged for 10 years.
The 400EX will most likely be dropped.
