No they just seem to be cracking out. It is obvious to me they saw aproblem because on the newer ones they welded an extra piece of metal to brace it. Mine has that brace and it still cracked. I can't say "don't buy an E-series" because it is a good pipe for power and rideability, but they do crack out. Maybe a tig welder could fix it right up?
