My mechanic told me to run 87 octane, NOT the 92+ the manual recommends. He said there is so much alcohol in the gas (re-formulated crap they make us use here in WI) that it will cause it to run too lean.

My 400EX can't tell the difference between 92 and 87 octane, so I just use the 87 octane.

I know my 400 ex runs better on Sunoco's 94 than it does on BP or Citgo 93.

Well I there isn't a chevron station within 50 miles of here so i'll have to take what they have.
BP,Citgo and Sunoco are still better than Duke's 10 percent alcohol gas.

high octane won't hurt it and it's not that much more on a 2.6 gallon tank
