whats the best way to clean the ait filter foam and what type of oil can be used on it?

 

A good grease cutting detergent to clean it. Rinse from the inside out to help drive grunge out of the filter. Allow it to fully dry. Then saturate it with oil specifically for foam filters...wring out the excess oil. Some filters require a lip of grease where the filter comes in contact with the air box.

What does the oil do, keep out the dust??

 

the oil makes the small dust particals stick so they dont end up in engine

 

gas works really good to clean it, dish soap and water are good too, if all else fails put it in the washer with a mix of all the soaps/detergents u have.

 

I would look into getting a K&N filter. They are alot easier to clean.
