Default Pros and Cons for the 400ex

400ex has a nice susspension, and its pretty durrible/sturdy, and nice speed are the good things
bad things
no reverse is the main thing i can really think of that would stop it from being a good woods bike

i would go w/ the z 400 or the kfx 400, if i had the money but the 400ex is a good bike

The ex is a much better bike than the kfx/z, u wont have to worry about ur frame breaking, the ex is WAY more reliable and with a slip-on you'll be just as fast (faster if u know how to race). Reverse? who needs reverse??? the ex doesnt need it because its not meant to get stuck like the kfx/z better ride feel on the ex, the kfx/z feels kind of tall and narrow. Suspension is better on the ex IMO. The only advantage the kfx/z has is liquid cooling but you live in Alaska so u wont have to worry about heat. With the kfx/z u would have to worry about coolant lines freezing, radiator cracking....So for $3500 the ex is your BEST bet.

REVERSE?! lol quads arent meant to have reverse... its just more unneccesarry weight.... i have been riden a blaster so thats not a thing! lol i think the 400ex is better than the kfx and z mostly because of price and a bigger aftermarket... i do about half and half... half woods and half out on the track... the 400 suites that pretty good i think. crackhead... your a very smart man. thank you

blaster why do you wonder about pros and cons than? reverse is a luggery, and the with the weight it adds the z400 will still beat a 400ex...
and a z400 will beat a 400ex stock vs stock, in acceleration, and top speed

The z is just as good as the ex and better in some ways. Everyone could use reverse if they ride in any really tight trails whatsover. Any man should be able to put their feet down and push a quad backwards but why bother when reverse is way more convenient. There's a lot of bias here but I guess I am too but I won't argue against the ex that bad because it's a great quad and I doubt you'll find a z or kfx for 3500. It sounds like you're already getting a little honda brand loyal and you haven't got it yet. That's cool though we're all proud of what we got. I will say that everyone that has ex's in my neck of the woods prefer my z to their ex's. The only complaints I've had from them is it wants to wheelie to easy. I myself don't like that either in a drag but it's pretty cool just to do them for fun. Crackhead there's no way an ex can go some of the places I go without being pushed quite a bit so I don't guess they are designed to get out of every situation. Most places you can sling the rear end around but there's a lot of places it ain't possible but once again these quads are pretty light so you can always push or lift the quad out of most spots. Oh well who cares I ain't convincing no one a z is better than an ex and I myself have no complaints with the 400 ex's. Their really fun to beat on the track also.

For the price (same MSRP by the way), the Z is a better buy. I ride MX on my Z, only mod I have that has anything to do with the power is the smaller front sprocket, my chassis is just fine. My track is nothin major, but the jumps arnt small by any means. The landings are rough, but like any stock setup, it will be rough. Wiyth an EX slip on, you may have just as much power (if not more than the Z), but with a Z slipon, bye bye EX. You cant tell me the liquid cooled, reverse capability, DOHC Z isnt superior to the EX. The Z's dimensions are very close to the EX, and with the Z having a lower dry weight, the Z is a better machine.

No offence Crackhead, but you are one of the most Honda bias individuals I have ever known....

I dont have anything against Honda, but their EX is just getting stomped!

i don't know if the Z has the same rear suspension as the EX. but if u land back tires first at too much of an angle, then the suspension doesn't do ne thing. it doesn't even have to be much of a steep angle either, 30 degrees will do it. that's about the only con i can think of.
