Removing choke & snorkel on a 400ex
Is your engine built? I needed my choke to start my stock engine.
The motor is now bored and stroked, and will start without the choke but I haven't removed it.
You could get more air removing the snorkle, but you could do the same taking the lid off. If it is not cammed you are probably getting enough air though.

my engine isn't built yet, but I have never used the choke to start it. I also cut a huge hole in the air box lid and covered it with mesh. It looks good and from doing that mod alone and jetting it I saw alot more power. So I don't even know if I will notice any more by removing the snorkel and the choke. what do you think? sickmojave, thanks but I already have step by step instructions with pics that I got off of another site.
Thanks for the info!

I'm just running the stock pipe with a 148 main, the stock main was a 142. I put up a picture of the air box lid in my page. I don't have that same exact one, I couldn't see paying all that money for one when I could just take a hour and make one just like it for free. I'll try to get a picture of my lid up soon.
