Honda didn't shorten the stroke, They made it longer with a smaller bore to keep it at exactly 450 cc's.

my .02

The Honda is $400 cheaper than the Yamaha. The HRC performance kit cost $300 if it doesn't come with a piston you can by a 12:1 piston like the dirtbike for under $100. With that said and done you would be at msrp for the Yamaha and have a faster honda. I know the Yamaha has more potential but for me anywhere in the mid 40's and up for hp is more than enough especially if I can get there or higher with the above modifications.

btw,
I would be insulted if Honda wanted more for this bike than Yamaha wanted for the YFZ but since it's detuned more and they want less for it I'm not insulted at all. I don't mind the kickstart only thing.

the kit supposedly comes with a cam, new internal parts for the exhuast, carb kit and I think air filter. The exhuast is already fairly light as opposed to the big heavy black one that comes with most quads so if you get new packing and an insert it would probably be pretty good.

The carb kit is just some jets,To rejet with the other mods. And that's pretty bad if they already have a fairly light pipe & they still couldn't get the bike under 350 lbs. The YFZ comes with a big heavy black pipe. So When you get a aftermarket pipe, your probably shaving a couple of pounds. And everything Ridley said was right. And who knows how much the smaller exhaust valve are going to effect it.

I didn't know it had smaller exhaust valves I thought it just had a different cam.
