A pro rider on a trx90 couldn't beat an amateur on a 400ex right.

 

You're absolutely right about it being more rider skills than anything. However, I've only been riding 2 years and there are hills that I couldn't get up on a stock 400ex. Now that I've modified the hell out of it I can make it up just about anything, so when it comes to hills you can never have too much power
