how many horsepower does the new honda 450r have?. i had a question on my mind. HOW COME HONDA DOSENT PUT A 6 SPEED TRANNY ON THERE ATVS?. well like the 400ex and the new 450r. i dont see the sense of putting a 5 speed beacuse well the 5 speed sucks. i have a 2001 400ex and its an awsome bike but you cant cruize at a high speed with it for a long time. but if they had a 6 speed damn, you could cruise at 65 mph all day and wouldent hurt the engine any. so i think that there should have been a 6 speed in the new 450r. a 6 speed in the 450r WOW. everybody be driving a 450r. well looks to be an all right bike but i will stick to my 400ex. later.

To make a 6-speed they would need to shorten up the first 5 gear spread so the bike would pull the final gear. This wouldnt be ideal for what the bike was intended for (mx) which wants a broader gear spread.

Have you ever even"cruised" down a trail going 65 mph. Even on the snowmobile trails around here trying to wind out my DS is scary. So do you think you will ever see 65mph on a motocross or GNCC track, i dont think so.

6th gear is the stupidest thing I have heard for this quad, why would you want 6th gear? To race around on the roads faster? Come on now.

Hey rough rider, where in the U.P. are you?? My friends and i are planning a riding trip up there before the end of the season. We're thinking copper harbor area. Are there a lot of trails to ride?? or is it mostly deep woods with the occasional sand bowl?? please let me know as soon as you can. we are really looking forward to this trip and don't know much about the northern U.P. By the way we are from the Detroit area. thanks in advance.

the reason they dont just stick in a 6-speed tranny and raise the top speed is because the CPSC has a maximum ATV top speed limit set up at 75 m.p.h.

ya, EXACTLY,to drive on the roads faster. 55 - 58 mph on a bike is not near fast enough for the road. i do most of my driving on the road and even with a 400 ex everybody talks about how fast it is but really you can only cruize on the road at about 55 mph or else the engine is reving sky high. so thats not very fast for me. my bro has a banshee and damn you could drive that bike for 3 hours at 70 mph and it wouldent even hurt the engine. cause its smooth and dosent rev high. so honda time to forget about the 450r and think about maybe a 650r then your in bussiness. later

Are the roads you're talking about highways? Because I've never been on a ATV legal road where I could hit 70mph, of course I've never ridden out west were this might be possible.
