40 vs. 42

Default 40 vs. 42

i have a stock 42 tooth sprocket on my quad and i accidentally ordered the 40 tooth. ive heard it has benefits but i was wondering which would be better...40, or 42?

It will raise your gearing. You will get more high end speed, but at the expense of low end torque. If you ride open country, might be ok. If you ride trails and hills, might not.

i ride trails, so do you think i should go ahead and send it back for the stock 42 tooth sprocket?

If you don't want the 40, return it. If you can afford to keep it, keep it and see what it does to your machine's speed.

if i do keep it, will it cause problems with the stock chain? will it fit?

Yes, you will have to re-adjust the chain. (if you can.. you never know you might not be able to...why?? because it is a polaris lol [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] )
