Default 250r frame reinforcement

I am in the process of building a 250r from the ground up. As of now I have an 87 engine and a 89 frame on the way. Is there any spots on the frame that are prone to cracking? I want to put some reinforcing welds while the frame is by itself so where are some spots you would recomend putting them. Also will 87 motor mounts bolt on to an 89 frame. Thanks

Definitely swingarm mounting holes are prone to cracking, rear bottom motor mount tabs, front motor mounts, and if you are really hard on it, the support for the upper steering bushing. Those were all cracked on our frame and I have seen others. Look on e-bay right now. There is a white Honda frame that has been reinforced some. That will give you a good idea for the swingarm holes. Hope this helps,Bubba

Lots of good frame info here.

Also I beleive TBR sells a kit that you can weld onto your frame.

I don't know if they have a "Kit" per-se but I know they do gusseting there. It couldn't hurt to ask, but even with a kit, you'll still need a person to welt it together. I've seen a couple they've done, very clean and very strong.
