If you take the lid off it will run a little rough until you rejet to compensate for the additional air. It will allow water to get in there if you get it wet. Liquid cooling a 400ex is not necassary, if thats what you want, sell it and get a Z.

In some applications air cooling is better than liquid. Its lighter, less parts, ect. But by saying its not necassary, what I meant was, it s waste of money, if you want a liquid cooled quad buy another one. I don't know who " they" are, but many people feel the Honda is the best 400 out. There is no question that the Suzy is faster stock. The Suzuki/Artic Cat/Kawi 400's have much more technology in them than the 400ex, but some of us think there is enough technology in the 400ex. The only time the heat issue comes up is when its really hot and I am running up big hills in the dunes and then it starts to fade a little.

Suzuki, no question. A pipe and proper jetting on a Z will beat alot of built 400ex's.Both have 4 valves and the Suzuki is the only on w/ 2 cams.

i agree with sandneck. a 400ex has 4 valves. 2 intake and 2 exhaust. the raptor now has five valves.
