i think it depends on what your looking for in your bike and what you want to spend. if you are just doing a piston, i would tell you to probally not even do it until you get a cam. a cam and piston will open your bike up a lot. if you just want a drop in cam/piston, i would do it myself as it is not that hard. you just need to get the cylinder bored if you are doing a 426 or smaller. if you want bigger, you will need to resleeve it. i am running a 406 with a cam and it is a total different bike than stock. if you want to go really radical, i would look into lrd, sparks, etc.
