Extended swingarm???
#1
I want to compete in some hillclimbs this year. I found a used 300EX rear swingarm. I am a rotten welder so I was thinking of having one cut, welded and extended like 6 inches. Can this be done with a quality welding job? I will also have to make longer brake line and chain but that is no problem.

Are you goi to be climbing you 300. Im not tryin to be a **** but there is some pretty tricked out things you will have to go against. Unless there is diifert classes.
How back to the subject you could probabley do that if you had a good welder. if you was luckey like me my next door neighbors are profesinal welders. But i dont no if it would be really strong

Tater..
I have been playing with the idea of doing the same.. i haven not come across a swingarm yet though. i attended the "Tour De Forest" and there was a Blaster there with this done. he cut his swingarm in half and welded new metal in the space. i think he said he did it like 6-8 inches. Looked sweet. Let me now how you make out !! I would have a pretty good set-up at work. We have a fabrication shop with soem very experienced welders.. Some day i will.. Good Luck !!!

I had my swingarm extended 6"(250r) by a professonal welder..dont try it yourself..unless you know how to taper it back an keep the centers of your pivot bolt and axle housing in line and still be square to the ground. The size of the material isnt a stock size ..The welder i had do it had to make the extentions by welding two pieces of channel together to make the right dimension, Its a little trickier than you would think, plus your adding more leverage and strain to the swingarm(jumping, whoops) As far as the chain u will need one..but the brake line loops foward(at least on an r) if you turn it around it will save you 40 bucks on a stainless braided one. I had mine done about 3yrs ago and this year its got a little crack were the bearing carrier is welded to the swingarm..good luck it really helps keep the front down..
