Which would be smarter?

I am planning on buying some new front and rear plastic for my 400EX. I have thought about getting Maier race fenders, or buying stock plastic and trimming it. The stock will be more expensive, but you will be able to keep your lighting unit. The Maier plastic will be cheaper, but you will not be able to keep your lights (unless you cut the plastic to fit them). Would it be smarter to buy stock and trim them or buy Maier race plastic and cut a hole for the lights (if you can do that)? Please help if you can. Thanks.

If you want red, buy the stock fronts and trim them. Unless your rears are roached you won't need to replace them. If you want a different color buy the Maier standard, not the race. They are exact replicas of the stock. Wind Mtn. sells them for $200, front / rear combo.

I can't answer your question other than I HATE Maier's plastic. It's dull and rough looking. At least the STOCK plastic for your quad is cheaper than replacements for my "R". I really hope someone like UFO or Acerbis decides to do "R" plastic! ; ~(

Maier's plastic does suck, the material itself is not up to par, the finish is not up to par, nor is the mounting.
Stock plastic is cheaper. You can get new front and rear stock plastic for $150. Unless you really, really want to change colors, get the stock plastic.
Yellow stock plastic should be available soon, if it isn't already, I would imagine it will be the same price....

Check out kiphonda's post from a few days ago, titled "i would like everyones opinion on my quad's looks". On his web site is a link (http://www.angelfire.com/stars/stuff4/hondapage.html) showing his 400EX with purple Maier plastic. Not sure if he re-used the stock black plastic section for the headlight mounting area, or if that piece comes with the Maier stock replacement front, but it does have the stock headlights. You might want to contact him for advice/info, or call an aftermarket company that handles Maier products and ask.

Do you know where I would be able to get the stock front and rear plastic for $150? Around here, if you get it from a dealer, it's really expensive. I did see fronts at a place online for only $83-85. Please help. Thanks.
