Default Swing arm skid problems.....

ok, here's the scoop. in order for me to get my swing arm skid plate to bolt up, i need to compress the rear suspension. i've had the same problem with 2 different skid plates. just wondering if anyone has any ideas or input into what the problem might be. could it be the wrong year shock for the back? is the 86-87 different from the 88-89?

I thought the shocks were the same?

The swingarms are different. Try putting some spacers between the swingarm and skid plate. You don't want your shock slamming into that plate.

I think the shocks are the same but the swing arm and the linkage is different from 86-87 to 88-89 the only thing that changed on the linkage is the "dog bone".

thx for all the replies. i was thinking of the spacer idea myself, but the spacers would have to be huge. like 2"+ huge. then i think i'm looking at losing quite a bit of ground clearance.
