hey have any of you guys taken out that little spark arrester/baffle thing on your stock muffler. that piece that you are supposed to take off to blow out the pipe fell of mine. makes it sound a little better. so all I gotta do is cut the welds and take out the screws and it should slip out right? anyways anybody done it?

Do you have to do anything with the jetting when performing this task. It sounds a littel iffy on my part. What weld snd what screws ?? The ones in the rear of the exhaust.. How much of a gain is it ?? Does your 300 still run smooth !! isn't that taking away back-pressure ??

a little info would be great !!!!

Yeah! My question is the same. I can't quite get it past my wife to let me buy anything else for the quad right now. Buying the quad was like parting the Red Sea.

Anyway, anything I can do without spending big $$$ would be great. I heard about modifying the stock exhaust too. I just didn't know how this would affect the carb settings. I would also think you would need to allow more airflow by changing the stock air cleaner with a K&N. If someone knows, please respond. Thanks in advance.

My stock exhaust came without the spark arrester so i dont know how to do it, but it sounds awesome and gusty, performance wise.... not much, you might have to mess with your carb, but other wise it isnt worth it to do that and mess with the carb at the same time... gotta go

I have done it to mine. It does nothing but change the sound a little at idle, no proformance gains. There are more baffles deep inside the exhaust, if you got those out then it would work.

my 300ex's header pipe is cracked see I jumped it the brake caliper came up hit the spark arrestor and sheared the bolt off then it cracked the header letting the spark arrestor fall not off but just hanging there I drill pout where the old bolt was re tapped it and put a new bolt in and removed the airbox lid it is way louder than it used to be but there was no real performance gain maybe a little on bottom but not enough to really tell.
