I doubt your warranty would be affected, besides its only a 6 month warranty. I doubt anything would go wrong, I had a headlight replaced under my warranty. If anything, it would cause less wear on frontend parts.

The 424 is easy to install even with basic mechanical knowelege. The instructions are fantastic with great pictures too.

would not agree that it is easy to install , and has at best limited benefits. Is difficult to engage/dis -engage in 4wd and regularly slips out . Really I am not very happy with the engineering process but when working it has major benefits

Sounds like you need to adjust the cable on your unit. Instructions to do this are on the last page of the manual. I found the installaton very easy, have to follow instruction to the letter for success though.

I always engage while moving, it will always go in easily this way (with a properly adjusted cable) as long as the tires are not spinning.

Default question about 424 mod

thank you for the response. iam planning on getting the extended warranty, and iam thinking that if i open up the front differential,to install the mod, that Honda might say that there warranty is void. i should call the dealer and ask there opinion to be sure. i heard that the GRVIS dealer out of Iowa has the best deal on the exyended warranty. have you heard of a better deal anywhere else? thanks!!!

You don't actually have to take the front diff apart. At least not on mine and I think the 500 is similar. Just have to unbolt it, pull it forward enough to get the driveshaft off the motor, and replace it with the 424 shaft. I didn't even have to remove the side axles.

Default question about 424 mod

Copied from a post in the Yammie forum:

I talked to Warn and they called this Axle Wind or something similar (I can't remember for sure). They assured me this was not a problem with the unit. There are a couple of things to watch for:

-If the adjuster is threaded too far out, the ball will never engage because the innards are already in position.

-If the adjuster screwed too far in, you may not get enough cable pulled before the ball engages and you will here a clicking sound from the 424 unit. This is NOT good.
You can put the front end on jack stands spin a front tire and see what I am talking about.

Mine likes to be under a slight throttle load to engage in 4 x 2, which is what you would want anyway.

Default question about 424 mod

today i got the extended warranty from Garvis Honda. the guy i talked to said that the warranty wont be viod. if something happens with the machine because of the mod installment, the dealer and Honda will determine if the warranty is still in effect. doesnt sound like a definate answer to me. from other questions posted in the froums here, it sounds like honda has the right to do what they want wtih every situaton. i.e. (if the differential goes bad for some reason, i might be screwed and may have to eat the cost, even though i got the extended warranty.)
