I just bought 4 new gators for my 98 honda recon and im looking for more mods, i was wondering what options would be the best for more power, speed really isnt an option ive had it up to about 53 mph i just need more power. Any tips would be helpful whether its products to buy or ideas that others have come up with thanks.

K&N with Outerwears, vent the airbox lid, and an aftermaket muffler (FMF MegaMaxII). It perked the little bike up quite a bit.

ReconRanger hit the nail on the head. That is an excellent combination of mods you will notice a nice difference with those.

You don't need to cut up the airbox lid, just trim the end off the snorkle. Big gain here after you re-jet.

Is the top speed on a stock Recon around 53mph then or do you have power mods on yours?

Get the HRC powerkit and a hotcam. Get a NOS kit for it, and a stage 4 turbo kit. After that get some elka suspension, and some +2 a-arms and a +2 rear axle.Throw out those gators and get some holeshots. Get some beadlock aluminum rims and then get the wiseco 300cc bore kit. You could install a ram air in the hood after you remove the front racks. You may want to consider removing the head lights and front and rear racks to reduce weight. I'd put a hinson clutch on, and maybe some renthal bars to keep a handle on all that power . I've done these mods to my old recon and it make a very big difference. I smoke banshees all the time.

do you have to change jets or can you get a gain in power by cutting the end of the snorkel
