ok i have a great spark but the bike wont start we are thinking it is the timing,getting the puller and going to take of the mag anybody have some other ideas please help.

 

Is the plug coming out wet, i.e.- is it getting fuel? I think timing is HIGHLY unlikely. If you've got spark and fuel and it isn't starting, it is almost a sure bet that you don't have enough compression. You probably just need to give it a fresh topend. Did something happen while you where riding it? One last thing, check your reeds. They should have no cracks and should lay flat against the reed cage. Hope this helps.

If every other time you kick it it back fires then yes your timin is gone and you probably sheered the key way off. But if it dosent back fire or make any weird noises then I will almost garentee it is probably one of the things boogerbob said.... also you might want to try cleaning the carb.

If you can get a compression tester and check it. If it is above 165 you shouldnt have a great deal of trouble starting it. If you cant get a compression test then try jump starting it. If it starts but dosent really run that well the its a compression issue.

 

How do you jump start a 2-stroke? lol

A 250r only requires fuel and spark to start. If you have spark then you know where your problem lies.

P.S. its pretty obvious if its compression related. if your 2 year old sister can kick it over, you have compression issues.

 

your joking right? All you do is take another quad or car and pull it behind and dump the clutch in 2nd or 3rd.

Thats why i cant jump start a 250r, ive always been hooking up the positive to the invisible starter and the negative to ground. Silly beach
