Default 416 ex mods

Hello, First let this is my first time to post on here, even though I check this place nightly. I was wanting some opinions on a new rev box, and also the hot cam (stage 2). Also I was thinking about running something higher than 91 octane. My bike is jetted a 170 main and 40? pilot. These are just some Ideas and I was wanting to know what some of "ya'll" think about these. I've heard the cam is a waste but i'm not sure on either. Also I'll be adding a 16t front sprocket with X-ring chain. Thanks for any replies.

A cam is definetly NOT a waste.

See mods in my sig, my 416 was unbeatable by any 400EX I raced. Had more than enuff power to pull the 16T sprocket too, all the way to the top of 5th.

I also read that stage1 was not recommended for a big bore kit, and stage 2 was more preferred? Would a Rev Box be a good idea also?

a stage 1 is just fine with a 416. if you ride in trails, i would get the stage 1. however, since i like all of the power up top, i have a stage 2. if i rode in trails, i would have went with the stage 1. the stock springs are not quite strong enough for a rev box. this box will make your bike hard to start in the colder months too. it won't give you any more power either, just more rpm's. i have a rev box with my engine and i am still using stock springs. it is not recommended and i will be taking it off since it won't start below 40 degrees with it on.

To get the most out of an aftermarket cam, you should install a higher compression piston. I have a Hotcam Stage II, and you really have to keep the rpms up, or it starts chugging bad. I'm thinking about switching to a stage 1, because I ride trails. I always run 93 octane in it.
