Friend's Machines Problem

Check the engine ground wire on the 250x. The plug should give out a while/blue spark when firing properly, if it is yellow
you have a ignition or grounding problem. A dirty ground will weaken spark considerably.
Don't just tighten the bolt, clean the connection, both the terminal, the bolt and the
engine ground surface.
You definately have a float/needle valve problem on the RM250 if gas is coming out of the overflow hole.
I have seen floats break off their bracket, never shutting the valve. But, as noted above, dirt in the needle
valve could cause the same, as could a worn or distorted needle or seat. A carb rebuild might be in order.

Well that is good. Perhaps he is getting to much gas into the carb, not atomizing properly and snuffing the spark
out. Might well both be carb problems as you said. If compression is within specs, and a blue spark is present, and you got
gas, and the timing is ok, the carb is all thats left. Pull the plug and crank it (OUTSIDE) with no source of possible ignition
within 50 feet of you. IF it is shooting out liguid gas in droplets, you got a severly flooded engine. carb rebuild time there to.

Ok, when I say the compression is good, it's theorical since I haven't checked it with a gauge, only with my feet lol. I just don't understand why there is so much oil on the porcelain and on the thread of the plug. Could the rings be shot?

Well dude a 250X almost kicked my ***. I work at a Honda dealer in Minnesota. Your cam chain has jumped off of the bottom you have spark and puting fuel in the cylinder and still doesn't start. Take the time and take the valve cover off and remove the timing plugs on the left side with the T mark on top the sporket on the cam has mark on it should point up (like at 12 O clock) or my have to turn crank one more revalution. You'll find that either it has jumped or doesn't turn if you kick it. The only other thing is the reverse switch but you will see that if you kick it over and it would fire once in awhile you can disconte it on the left side MAG need to jump the two wires to make it by pass. I know that there is only one one the left side but I beviele that you have to connedt 2 wire to bypass you can try just disconecting the wire on the right side or gounding it. well good luck

Try the simple things first. Woodsruner may be right. Kick it over until there is no access gas and then heat up the sparkplug with a toarch and put the plug back in while it is still good and hot and try to start it again. You may want to shut off the gas if there is alot of access gas. If it makes an attempt to start try it several times. If it runs for a little bit you more than likely have a carb problem.
( get the plug good and hot, carefull not to burn yourself, wear gloves)

I finally rechecked the 250X. It doesn't have ANY Compression . What could be?
I think it can be piston/rings and valves. Anything else?
