Default Honda Vs. Bombardier

I am looking at purchasing either a Honda Rincon 650 or a Bombardier Quest Max 650. Does anyone have any thoughts on which one is a better machine or is their something better out there that I should look at? I would be looking for the machine to help out around my farm. I heard that John Deere is going with Bombardier to build their machines which seems odd since John Deere has superior track record with regards to maintenance and dependability.

I am leaning towards the Rincon.

Any assistance would greatly be appreciated! Thanks!

Best Regards,

Cosmo

Well i do not have any real world experience with the Bombardier so I can't say much about them. However I can tell you that the Rincon is a top quality machine with a smooth ride, plenty of power and I'm sure it will have a much higher resale value in the future than the Bombardier.

However I would say the Bombardier is an excellent machine as well I would really like to have the oppurtunity to ride one.

Either one would be a great choice. Last year hunting I was with a guy that had a Bombardier. I was very impressed with it. It hauled him, me and entire elk (half on front half on back) up some steep terrain and back to the truck about 5 miles away. Seemed to have plenty of power. And it never felt like it was going to tip over backward on us. They have a great center of gravity. However, I wasn't very impressed with the winch that came on it. Only had about 10 feet of cable and it didn't seem very powerful but it did pull us out of a jam when we got highcenter on snow. Just seemed a little underpowerd. And the switch on the winch kept coming undone and was hard to use If the one you are looking at has a winch you may want to see if you can swap it for a bigger one then what comes stock and with a longer cable and with a remote cable or handle bar mounted switch. Now that I think about it, maybe it seemed underpowered because of the elk and rider on it.

I should note that this guy I went hunting with really IMO abuse their equipment. In fact, every time I have gone with him he breaks something. Last year he broke the front axle on his Bombardier, the year before he blew up the engine in his trooper. Needless to say he is very hard on his stuff. But that's what he enjoy's so to each his own. Also, on this hunting trip when I was riding back to the truck on the Bombardier and it was backfiring pretty good on a downward slope. Probably nothing related to the Bombardier but to how the machine is being used.

I bought my Rincon because of the comfy ride, looks and the projected reliability of Honda's. And the Rincon suits my needs for the type of riding I like to do.

If I were going to buy an ATV and use it the majority of the time for farm work, my number one choice would be the Rubicon. Simply because of the awesome transmission in it. It has an great low range and is more setup for work than the Rincon. The Rincon is more setup for playing although it can work just not as hard as the Rubicon. All comes down to what you are going to use it for. One disadvantage of the Bombardier 650 is it's weight...it weighs almost a 150 pounds more than a Rincon.

You can't go wrong with the Rincon either, just be aware that it doesn't have a super low gear, so for pulling it may not do as well as the Rubicon.

Personally I would choose Honda over Bombardier (well for that matter I did). And go with either the Rubicon, Rincon or one of the Foreman's.

Hope this helps some and good luck with your decision.

Thie Rincon is great machine, only drawback is no low gear for pulling or going down steep slopes. I love mine. Check out WWW.ATVTV.COM. They have compared the different classes of quads. They have really good criteria for their ratings. I watch their show and think they do a good job of explaining each quad they ride pretty thoroughly. When you are on the site, look at the 400 class of quads. They explain their criteria on that page.

Good Luck

i'd think for pulling things around the farm the extra weight would be a plus. back firing is a tuning issue like someone who doesn't clean the air filter. i think the honda and the bomb are good, and the looks of the bomb cause concern at first, but when you stop and think about the design it makes sense. plus if you want a weight issue quad why go qwith a 4x4 quad why not a sport type quad.
