I have a poll

Lurch,
Very interesting on the 4-stroke snowmobile. I guess it had to happen with the emission guidelines we have these days. My statement was still correct. There is not a 4-stroke snowmobile on the planet - but there will be!!!
Who is RedLine??
As much as we yell about the emissions restrictions they will get us better engines in the end. Look at the 60s early 70 when we were all whining about emissions controls, the loss of the muscle cars, the loss of leaded gas, the introduction of catalytic converts, etc etc. Now we have a new generation of car engines that produce way more torque and horsepower, are orders of magnitude cleaner, are half the size and weight, and get 2 to 3 times the gas mileage, with unleaded fuel and catalytic converters.
They said boat motors wouldn't be great without 2-stroke. Look at the new lineups. Pretty damn amazing 4-stroke engines out there. Fuel efficient, clean burning, quite light, and lots of power. Look at the new 2-strokes even. The 2-stroke boat motors of late produce virtually no smoke, they use very little oil all, and they go like crazy.
I guess the point to this is that SOME of this regulation will make the manufacturers go back to the drawing board. It is too easy for them to say we can't improve what we have. Put them under the gun and they can do a pretty amazing job.
Up here in Canada we have similar emissions standards to California (some stricter). I too would not want my favorite ride outlawed. Hope all this regulation does come to some good, as I suspect it will.

Deej up here 2 stroke sleds out number 4 wheelers big time and I hear no flak about there engines yet infact Mike Harris puts lots of money towards new snowmachine trails up here. I also never heard of this snowmachine company Redline.

well if they have the power I don't care. I've been riding 2 stroke mx bikes forever so the 4 stroke is a new thing for me. since I've been hearing 2 strokes forever I like that deep sound of a 4 stroke with an aftermarket pipe on it. either one for me.

4 strokes, they are the future. The enviromentalsists will restrict 2 stroke use.
This is the way they "ban" watercraft from certain waterways is by declaring no 2 stroke boats. You guessed right all watercraft are 2 stroke.
It sure is hard to beat the wide open power of the 2 stroke!

Aside from the small dirtbikes as a kid Ive only owned a 4 stroke. Dont have a lot of time on 2 stroke quads so I cant really compare. Dont like to borrow either bad things always happen if ya know what I mean.
4 stroke and likin it. Might be swayed with more time on a 2 stroke.

Actually there are several 4 stroke sleds on the planet. There are just not factory produced! A local racer down here was building race sleds with 1000 cc turbocharged Kawasaki motors in them. He actually held the snowmobile speed record for a time with it I believe! (But that was long ago) Air shifted, it was really a cool thing to hear a snowmobile shift, but would that make for a long day on the trail or what?
