Selling A Quad On Ebay
#2
My biggest problem has been non-paying buyers. I got good prices every time, but if I were you I would put in your local paper for at least a few weeks before you put it on ebay. Transaction is as easy as telling them where to send the money. To ship, find a company with reasonable prices, build or buy a crate to ship it in, take it to a loading dock and have it picked up. I would also have their deposit in hand before you even start to finalize the deal. That way, if they decide they don't want it, you will have at least gotten a few hundred $$ out of it all.

Ok, I have no problem with ebay. I buy and sell a lot on it. My only preocupation is the shipping. I really don't know which shipping company would ship it. What would be a reasonable shipping price?

I bought my scram on Ebay. It was shipped from Memphis, Tennesse to Detroit, Michigan for $300 through Forward Air. He crated it for free. The people at Forward Air are a bunch of d!ck heads though. I wouldn't recommend them.

the only thing i said was that you should wach the last couple hours of your auction and cancel any bids placed by ebayers with no feedback and an icon stating that they're a new user, most of these people that dont pay are just kids trying to screw up auctions. now what in the world is wrong with saying that? its extremely good advice that could save someone alot of money in listing fees

I ditto that comment, especially selling something like a quad. I have seen that numerous times.
good Luck

I did the Ebay thing for a few months a couple years back, with computers and computer parts, not with quads. More hassle than it was worth. Non-paying bidders, shipping damages, buyers who didn't realize what they were bidding on, payment method hassles, ect.
And don't forget who all gets a piece of your selling price. It was a pain in the *ss. I won't do it again.
I would place ads in every local paper, Advertiser, Car Scope, ect and let them run before I tried Ebay.
But that is just MHO.

Ok, here is another point of few on e-bay...
How else can you reach so many potential buyers for such low dollars ($40 to place a quad ad)? The trick is not to sell it on e-bay but to advertise it on e-bay. Reserve the right to cancel the auction due to local sale at any time. Use e-bay as a marketing forum for making contact with potential buyers. Most truly interested buyers will come to look at it and make an offer on the spot with cash in hand.
I have bought and sold quads and parts on e-bay. I have only been ripped off by a guy selling stickers for $5 who never shipped. I've never had someone not pay up.
