I have the first 450r coming to my dealer in December. I will have some extra cash to spend on it. Should I buy extended a-arms and an axle or wheels and tires or shocks or what? Nerfbars? And what kind of handle bars, Renthals or Pro Taper and what kind of clutch lever and perch? Basically, if you could spend a couple of thousand dollars on a 450r what would you buy for it? Obviously I'll be getting a pipe and the HRC racing kit. What else? thanks for your input. Please no bashing. If you don't like the new Honda or whatever, you don't have the money for one and you're mad, don't bash. thanks

you should ride it some while it only has the hrc kit on it first. there is no need to buy anything for it if it doesn't need it. but if you can find something it needs help with then you can decide what you need to get.

 

I'd get on a b/o list for an exhaust and nerf bars...as far as the other stuff goes...just remember the stuff that gets rushed to production isn't usually as nice as the other slower stuff...might wait for arms etc...I'd also give the shock companies a month or so to figure out the best valving for the machine

 

I'm #8 on the list and when I get mine the only extras I want right away are the HRC kit and paddles on wheels. I'll give it time and then decide who has the best pipe for it.

 

I'm with fast440, my 450r will be here mid January. Still waiting on an answer from Honda regarding the warranty of the 450R. So far I've found out that the 450r will have the standard six month warranty and you can buy the extended warranty as well. What I haven't been able to find out is if the HRC kit will void the warranty. IF SO, I may just wait and see what pipes, airbox and jet kits are available for max HP. Other than the HRC racing kit and pipe, I think I'll add nerf bars and see how the quad handles before I make any additional purchases for it. I have no doubt it will be a sweet machine... Unlike a lot of people on the forum, I'm reluctant to tear down my quad's engine. I have no doubt I could take it apart-- Putting it back together would be a totally different story... When I put money down on mine the dealer said there will be no warranty on these quads since they are considered race quads. They seemed to be pretty emphatic about it so it's interesting to hear someone else say there will be a warranty.

 

I know its a honda and all but ifyou got all that extra dough you ought to think about an extended warranty. After all your getting it in the dead of winter. And may not get to really ride it hard before the warranty runs out.

I cant see the HRC kits voiding the factory warranty, they're factory parts. I work for Acura, and Comptech parts dont void the warranty on Honda/Acura cars.

 

Depending on how much extra money you have,you could just buy 2 450r's and give me one.Just kidding..........um actually I am not kidding.
