Sorry for the double post but this is about Honda mostly. What time of year is a good time to buy a new Honda Sport model. You go in there now and they just show you the MSRP sticker and walk away. I want a time when they are staving for a sale and will jump though hoops to get a sale.

Buy dec-feb thats the slow months and toward the end of the month, salesmen want that extra comission at the end of the month. and use ads from other dealers, and get them to match the price . they will do it

The prices were getting good around Sept. for the 2003's but then Honda threw a curve ball and lowered alot of the retail prices for 2004. It also depends if Honda is offering any rebates. If you want a 2004, then it'll be a little while before the great prices are advertised.

You would think that a older model would be cheaper. But they are about the same right now. Dealership said they have been paying floor plan on them longer and acually have more in them and need to sell higher on them. Than a new model that is still in the box.

I'd go to another dealer to get a price. Seems like they'd try harder to get rid of the 2003 stock. I wonder if the dealer had to pay more for certain 2003 models than the 2004 models. The Foreman 450S was reduced from $6199. to $5799. retail.

Best time to buy? Well when you have the money of course.
But really, it sounds like your dealer is just playing hard ball....that's what they do. Go to another dealer, there are a lot of them out there. Get a good deal and then pull up to the hard ball dealer with your new ride, walk onto the showroom floor when there a lot of potential buyers around, and loudly announce "man I can't believe you guys wanted that much $$$ for that ride! I just picked up the same thing for a fraction of the cost at the other dealership!"
That will teach em!

I've been trying to track prices on some of my top choices (400EX, Z400). What I saw was that the 2003s dipped a little, but the 2004s followed. I now have an ad from the Illinois Auto-RV showing $3799 for a 2004 400EX (before tax, title, prep and freight). Have not pursued OTD pricing from them yet.
Z400 was one I watched most closely - just before the 04s came out, the 03 dropped to $4395. When the 2004 finally hit that place's ad, it started at $4495, but has since dropped (within about a month) to the $4395 level. (Prices before tax, title, prep, freight, haven't asked them for OTD yet either since I hadn't planned on buying until the new year, just from a "too much crap to pay off this fall" perspective).
I should note that I've only been watching for a couple months. My hope and prayer is that things stay consistent until tax refund time.
