Sound like either not a good connection to the battery or starter is going out. Just my .02 cents

My quad was doing the same thing and I replaced the solenoid and it has worked fine since.

It could be the brushes inside your starter....

Could still be a defective battery. Put a voltmeter on it and watch how much it drops when you press the starter button. If there s a defective cell, lights may still look bright but will not start (not enough ampacity).

Could be a loose/corroded connection on the battery, ground, or starter.

Happened to me a couple of times too. Turned out the battery connection wasn't all the way tight. Check that first. Also make sure that the terminals are clean and that you're getting a good connection. If that doesn't work then you will have to do some investigating. If the battery is old it would still run your lights most likely, but may not have enough juice to run the starter and if it has a bad cell it won't charge either. Try using another battery and if that doesn't work then you know you have a problem with the starter.

yeah-- with either a rubber mallet or a peice of wood, tap lieghtly on the starter body as the solenoid rushes may be getting hung up. is this is the case then a solenoid rebuild is lekely in order, not a big deal really....
