Default I sunk my 400ex

Well i was some local trail this weekend riding thru a stream when the depth when from 6 inches to 8 feet! and the quad was under for around thirthy minutes untill i was able to pull it out. i drained the oil along with the half gallon of water with it and pulled the intake and exhaust all off and drained em. What else should i be doin???? Thanks 4 the help

same type of thing happened to me, you should also put kerosene in the oil tank to "flush" it out, then put new oil back in, then prop it up on the grabbar unscrew the sparkplug and push the start button to blow any remaining water out of the cylinder, and get rid of the gas too (empty it completely by taking off the hose to the carb and letting it run out).

After that, when you start it with new oil, let it warm up, then drain and replace the oil again. There will be some water in the crankcase that you can't get out by draining it cold. When you get it hot again, the oil and water will sort of mix together, and will all drain out together.

yeah same thing happended to local kawisakis a 220 and a 300 we drained the carbs and set em back on the racks and drained em straight out the pipe. THen i pull started em (by towing em not actually the pull starter) and they spit and gurgled and started and pulled em around some more and then they have been fine since then. Dont forget to empty the air box and when you put it up to drain and if there is gas in it turn it off or it will just run it out. really shouldnt have taken tthe EX into the water though.

Check differential fluid too, if applicable. (I know yours is chain drive, this is for others who may be reading this!!!)
