Depends on the carb. Some screw in, like main jets; on some of the larger carbs in motorcycles, they're "fixed," look like a press fit or something, they're not meant to be messed with--a mechanic told me it's because of environmental concerns.

You might want to look at the "Tech Tip" on Keihin carburetor maintenance accessible from the ATV Connection home page; its exploded parts diagrams, and the references at the end (e.g., Carburetor Parts Warehouse) might be useful to you.

I can help you out, i have taken my carb apart on my 250X which has a kiehin carb on it also, first take the carb off the quad, make sure all of the gas is out of the carb, just for cleanliness purposes then, take off the bowl on the bottom of the carb, just the 4 screws, make sure you get a good grip and dont strip the head of the screw, and if you have an accelerator pump DONT take the 3 screws that are on that, just the 4 mains on the bowl. Then you will see TWO jets, the MAIN jet and the PILOT jet, the pilot is the smaller of the two and is usually taken out with a small flathead screwdriver, make sure it is a big enough end though that it fits in there snug. Then do the normal left loosey, righty tighty!! thats all there is to it!!! anymore help just ask. But hey tell me what kind of machine this is coming off of, just so i am on the same page as you, mine is a 250X/300EX, 400EX have keihin carbs too, if that is what you got!! your welcome!!
