Default 400ex White Bros pipe busted up inside!

Hi guys I bought a 2000 400ex about 2 months ago. I took it too the dunes & it ran like crap. Kept fouling plugs & I didn't ride at all. I though my float was stuck open & it was getting way to much fuel. Came home & took it to my buddys shop. He told me my carb was fine. My problem was my White bros pipe. It had broken inside & was basically clogged. I put my stock pipe back on & it runs fine.
So here are my 2 questions. Should I fix the White bros pipe? It would cost me only $65 to fix. Second question is my carb was jetted for the white bros pipe. It seems to be fine with my stock pipe but I'm sure it is running a little rich. Suggestions???????

All exhausts will break apart if you keep them long enough. The steel mesh screen will rust from the high heat after a few years. Mine came aprt this spring. We went a got an old airfilter from a big truck and just used the screen inside. It had about the size screen mesh. cut it to size with some aiviation snips and mig welded it together and now it is just like new. the only cost was for the repacling. If you like the sxhaust get it fixed like I did.

I really have nothing to compare it to since it broke before I got to use it. What kinda change am I looking at with the aftermarket exhaust? It does seem like the stock exhaust doesn't have much in the mid to upper rpm! DOes the aftermarket pipe give better upper end or just better overall response? Thanks

You will find that almost all aftermarket exhaust will be better than stock. Take a look at this test to help you make your choice. http://www.atvnews.com/output.cfm?id=30961
The W/B is rated one of the best in all of the tests. I have the W/B with the stock head pipe and like it very much. I did have a Sparks before, but it was very loud. the W/B was just a little less in power than the Sparks. But I needed something less noisey. You will find that noisw will be more of an issue in the coming year, so plan ahead. I would go ahead an get what you have fixed and use the money that you saved to buy something else. the best add on that you ccan get and most average riders don't get it is a steering stablizer.

I have not heard about the steering stabilizer before. I haven't noticed any problems with my steering either. What are some common problems associated with needing a stabilizer? I am going to get my White bros pipe fixed too. $65 is nothing compared to a new pipe! Thanks for all the input guys.
Also on the steering stabilizer. What & where would I find some good brands for them?
