Sorry about the wait. Just getting in. No Bs on the R. After 3 races it fell 2-1. I took 2 races to his 1. The biggest problem he had was launching the bike. The nose of the bike was skyward on all of his passes. I guess he was still trying to get use to the R.
I have to start with riders and abilities.
Im 6'3 330 and Steve is 6'1 and guessing at his weight under 200. I have riden bikes for years but Im no pro. He likes mx racing and has been riding for alot of years aswell.
My biggest advantage was starts and his was the power on top end. I guess the weight was the biggest factor. Two of the runs were around 350 ft. ( estimate.) On the starts of all three races I was able to pull out by about 1 to 2 bike lengths. Through third gear I was able to stay ahead by a bike length. By the end of my two wins I was still about 1 bike out.
In the third and final run we decided to run somewhat longer of a run and he pulled ahead at the finish.
Has anyone else gotten to race one of the R's?
I see that some have posted about getting them and others are saying we are lying. I guess you will just have to believe us. If not oh well. I dont believe hes the only dealer with them unless he made a deal with the devil. Which is unlikely.
The R is a strong bike. I was more impressed by the bike on his jumps then anywhere else. I watched him jump the R many times. He said the suspension need some tweaking but he loved the feel of the bike in flight. He spent most of the day trying to get use to the handling of the R and trying to adjust the suspension.

ya thanks a lot! We need some kinda info here, we were going crazy. So you weigh approximately 130 lbs more than your friend and your bike weighs over 100lbs more than his. I find it a little concerning that you were able to beat him 2 out of three. Was he really launching that badly? Was he in first or second gear? I would just think that a bike/rider weighing over 230 lbs less and about the same horsepower would be able to win no questions about it. Please let us know if you guys do it again when he is more used to his bike, and thanks again for the info!

Honda of Lake Charles denied receiving any 450R's.
They claim to have not received 1, 2 or 3 of the units. They confirmed the new Jan. 28 ship date at which time they are expecting only 1.
An Arizona / Southern California Honda Rep said the ONLY bikes that are in circulation are with the magazines and select aftermarket companies for product fitment.
Did you ever wonder why Cain Smead, a Dirt Wheels employee, was the only person to show up at Glen Helen with a 450R?? Not another 450R to be found. Not one "sponsered rider" showed up with one. Tim Farr wasn't even there. The mags are the only ones with the bikes.
How are 3 of these units showing up at one dealerhip in rural Louisianna and not one other place in the country? The answer is obvious.
Not sure if what I'm smellin' is Horse $hit or Bull $hit but it is one or the other.
I won't ask for any proof, it does not exist.

Here's my beef with all the pretenders.
I am first on the list at 6 different dealers in the states. 2 here in Arizona, 3 in the Great Lakes area and 1 in the mid south. I NEED to know what is the truth about shipment as I have to arrange payment and pick-up. Getting all these false reports makes doing so difficult. Why would you lie about such things, like people will think you are cool cuz you rode with someone who has one?? If you need attention, pay a hooker $20. She will give you her undivided attention.
