It explains in the owners manual about the break in period.

I had a speedo on my Recon and the top speed of my 2001 was 47 mph.

yeah you want to run through your gears letting your engine wind up a little but dont run it over half throttle ever during the breakin period, but its good to run it through all your gears it lets your tranny break in somewhat too.

Have fun, but run it easy. You want everything to "break" in and seat well. Once it is broke in, it will even run a little better. Work your way through the gears as mentioned earlier, but don't drag race it, don't keep it at high speeds for long periods of time, don't let it idle for long periods of time, etc. As mentioned earlier, break it in for a few tanks of gas.

Ride Safe and Have Fun
