a stock 250R weighs about 328 pounds i'm pretty sure of and at MX it should be better than the DS650 since the way the 250R's geometry is, but a stock one probably wouldn't stand a chance on a long flat surface. And you must be pretty lucky if you found a stock 250R because these days hardly any of them are stock.

i found mine completely stock along with a 6 pack rack and 1 gallon gas can for $3700!!

I do not do ANY MXing stuff, but from my knowledge I would put money on a 250r in a mx situation simply because of its superb handling.

As far as I drag race goes, I have never raced each one completely stock.

Bought an 86 model in Dallas,TX still with the original pipe and tires on it for $2200 about a month ago. And like Nichelson said they are almost impossible to find that way. Hellrider you cant go wrong with an R. A lot of people are selling out due to the new thumpers coming out and now's the time to buy. They will be sorry a couple of years down the road.

I'm not saying anything bad about the 250R, it's agreat quad, but if you buy a stock one for mx, by the time you do all the work to it to make it competetive with the 450's your going to have as much money into it as if you bought a new 450.

I would have to disagree with you starky.... Buy a 250R for 1500. then you have about 4500 dollers left. 1000 for a big bore. 250 for a new carb. 250 for a new pipe. now you have 3500 dollers for a-arms, suspention and tires, and plus after all that it would kill a 450 anywhere any time.

i completely agree with you Bubba they will be sorry a couple of years down the road after buying those thumpers.

and dragracer789 yeah you are right too, buy a 250R for that much then have all that extra money to put into it and it will destroy the 450's plus you will have alot more than $ 4500 dollars because the YFZ 450 cost more than a Raptor and the last time i checked i think the Raptor was around $7000 by the time the tax and all that good stuff so yeah there would prolly be more than enough to customize an R the way somebody wanted it.

the stock 250r top end is probably in the neighborhood of 66/67mph.
I think the ds would take it...but don't quote me. the vid's I saw on the net(from the same guy who films FSWs) had a video with a 250r vs a ds twice then the 250r vs banshee... the r won the first race...ds won second..then banshee beat it in the last race...but I don't know if both of those machines were stock or not...and it looked like both of them had a hell of a time trying to get traction in the sand...let me know if you end up by racing them...video tape it if you can and post it - I'm sure people will want to see it :-)
