I was just curious how compression and cam affects the way your engine sounds. I like the way it sounds right now with stock cam and piston and t-4. Will adding a je 416 10.8:1 and hotcam stage 2 change how it sounds?

 

i noticed a slight sound difference when i took my 400ex from stock to a 440 with stage 2 cam and porting, kinda hard to explain, just sounds more powerful

 

i could tell a difference in sound too, however it isn't much. it just sound's a little meaner but the average rider wouldn't be able to tell a difference in sound.

 

Exhaust note sounds a little sharper with higher compression pistons, like the difference between a shotgun and a rifle. Not sure if a 10.8:1 would be a big difference but when you get into the 13:1 range, you can really hear a difference.

 

i noticed after i got my old 440 drag ported the sound was ALOT deeper
