Engine-Braking on the TRX450R ????
#1
The CRF450R dirt bike is well known for not having a lot of engine-braking. Of the reviews that are out, none have commented on this for the TRX, one way or the other. The TRX has a slightly longer stroke than the dirt bike, so this may have some effect.
I personally am a downshifter. Going into a corner, I almost never use the rear brakes. I downshift going in (add a little front brake if necessary), then I am already in the lower gear and get right back on the gas to power out of the turn. For me, this bike will see mostly desert riding. Not all desert is just wide open washes and fire roads. Some areas have a fair amount of trails, but I would pass up the real technical stuff (and ride that another day on the Rancher!). So, I'm not sure having "stop-you-dead" braking is going to be a big deal for me. But, who knows how it might effect you other riders?????? Something to evaluate when we finally get to ride one.
